In this Seiko SNK809 review video, I analyse every aspect of this popular Seiko 5 field watch, including water resistance, build quality and aesthetics; to see if it’s still a viable option against its competition.

HI ! WHAT YEAR DID THIS SNK SERIES COME OUT ? THANKS FOR THE VIDEO !
Under $80…cries in 2021
So, if the watch is rated to 30m, why can't I "repeatedly submerge" it in <1m of water?
Type B Flieger. Absolutely killer hand set too.
I have the green one and cant stop admiring it, so ice cold for me. I also considered the bigger SNZG series but the dial on this one is much better imho. By the way mine only goes 4-5 seconds off daily (which is better than my Orient Ray II, 5-6 secs per day), pretty impressive for 7S26C movement i guess.
SNK809 is the only mech I have in my collection, because it costs what any mech must cost at most (given any mech's terrible accuracy for 21st century standards and requirement to manually adjust the date at the end of the month) yet still zero maintenance. If I were only to keep 5 watches, SNK809 would be the third in the list, superseded only by Casio OCW-T200S and GW-B5600.
The one that got me in is my Seiko Solar. I love it.
I have one and like the included canvas strap….I've seen a review where they thought it was too stiff and uncomfortable but once it's worn a bit, it shapes to your wrist and is fits very well. (It was also my first of 7 watches that I have and my introduction into horology)
I’ve had one for 6 years now. Still the most reliable watch in my collection.
This model will be discontinued by Seiko soon.
Without realizing it, I swam with this a few times. Never saw any moisture on the inside
It looks very nice. I'm thinking of picking up an alternative everyday model and I notice there's two left (but with metal bracelet, at my local Seiko distributor in İstanbul, might pick it up and throw a black NATO strap on it.
i've dived and swimmed 3 years since i got this watch and never had any problem whatsoever, i think they just dont get the certified rating to make it cheaper, but in reality it can handle water resistence just fine
Cool
after 2 years of waiting i FINALLY got one! loving every bit of it!
A tool watch shouldn't be using a quartz movement unless it has a battery end of life indication.
So, though I own more quartz than mechanical watches, all my tool watches are mechanical.
The strap in my experience is really durable-once got it burned accidentally by a match stick but still good until now, but the "kind of" leather on the holes is not really that good. But through 2 years wear it, the strap no longer holds tight now it feels loose on my wrist.
too much talk,, men show us a watchhhh
Seiko 5 sux. It ran fast after a day or so of setting it.
Ice cold all the way. Beautiful look for a beautiful price.
My biggest issue was the strap. Despite what some on the internet said, I could not get the strap to break in well. Not really an issue though because I swapped it with a NATO after about a month on the wrist. I have had no issues with the waterproofing despite what many say. I have been snorkeling with it (I know its not diving) continuously submerged between 2 and 10 feet for an hour or more with no issues. Plus, if there is water ingress a new movement is like 20 dollars and can be replaced in an afternoon without much effort.
Cool as the other side of the pillow! 👍
